About

Meet Yuka

Hello and a warm welcome!

I am here to listen and to support you in your journey to wholeness.

My passion is to leave a footprint in humanity by supporting my clients to transform their fears and traumas into light and love.  How do I do that?  By being a container in the areas of mental health and personal growth.  As a counsellor, my heart’s desire is to instil hope and empower you to become the best version of yourself.

I am a PACFA registered counsellor and a psychotherapist.  I am also a HeartMath® certified clinical biofeedback practitioner. I am also currently studying for a PhD in Integrative Medicine with a focus on heart-brain coherence and neuroscience.  I practise in Sydney, Australia, but offer online services for people around the world.

Emotional attunement and sensitivity to each person’s needs guide my practice.  No client nor session is ever the same.  The uniqueness of this therapeutic encounter will reframe how you relate to the world.  How I may be able to help can be realised in working together with you to embrace your uniqueness.

While acknowledging all the privileges of being Japanese, during my life I have faced numerous social and racial injustice challenges because of my skin and gender.  This has led me to become an advocate for inclusiveness.  With experiences of mental health issues and therapies, I emphasise the continued exploration of self that I do as a qualified counsellor as well as a person.

I am a mum, I used to teach scuba diving in my adventurous years, and have endured the stresses of corporate life.  I deeply care about sustainability and women’s empowerment.  Integrity, congruence, and spiritual pursuits are of great importance to me as a person.

   My professional credentials:

  • PACFA registered counsellor (26904)
  • HeartMath® clinical practitioner

I hold a Graduate Diploma of Counselling from the Australian College of Applied Psychology, a Diploma of Counselling from the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors, and a Bachelor of Environmental Science from Keio University (Japan).

Additional training includes; somatic-psychotherapy, EFT (emotional freedom technique) Tapping, family and abstract constellation, as well as yoga, mindfulness and meditation practices.  These give me experiential tools to offer clients broader options that can be empowering and transformative.

“ The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.”
